Cart Lodge in East Anglia, is situated in the lovely grounds of the owner’s home, in the pretty village of Nayland in Suffolk. This delightful little lodge has been exquisitely renovated from a former honey workshop. Boasting charming traditional furnishings and features, including a wood burning stove, the cottage is comfortable and cosy, while a private, furnished patio area and share use of the owner’s outdoor swimming pool (available by prior arrangement), make this an ideal place for a romantic retreat any time of the year.

Cart lodge consists of one double bedroom, a shower room with a shower, basin and WC, and a lovely, open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and seating area, complete with traditional woodburner.

General amenities include: electric convector heaters and woodburner, gas oven and hob, a microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. There is a TV with Freeview, a DVD player, a CD player/radio and Wi-Fi, plus a great selection of books, games and DVDs.

Fuel, power, bed linen, towels and the starter pack for the woodburner are all included in the rent, and additional fuel is available to purchase from the owner.

There is a private patio garden, complete with furniture and off road parking with space for two cars. The nearest shop and pub are a mere two-minute walk away.

Please note: the use of the owner’s unheated outdoor swimming pool is available by prior arrangement. Sorry, no pets and no smoking, No children under 12, including infants.

Cart lodge offers the following short breaks: winter, off-season and last minute, making this a great place to visit all year round.

Cart lodge and East Anglia surrounding area

Nayland is a charming little Suffolk village nestled on the northern banks of the River Stour, making it a perfect location from which to explore both Suffolk and Essex. The village itself is historic and picturesque, with Tudor cottages, a lovely church, an award winning pub and lots of quaint village shops.

Flatford Mill, the location of John Constable’s painting the ‘Haywain’, is a short drive away, and an ideal place for walking, cycling, riverboat hire and enjoying a spot of afternoon tea at the National Trust tearooms. For gardening enthusiasts the village of Elmstead and Beth Chatto’s wonderful gardens are an absolute must.

For a somewhat livelier day out, Colchester is just seven miles away, and has a castle, museums, a zoo, excellent sports & leisure facilities, cinema, lots of shopping and great restaurants to enjoy.

Slightly further afield, the pretty coastlines of Suffolk and Essex are both within easy travelling distance, as well as the East Anglian Railway Museum.

Cosy and charming, The Cart Lodge is a wonderful place to stay for couples looking for a romantic retreat, and provides a lovely base for a peaceful weekend away or a way to explore this pretty, historic area.
