Badgers Retreat log cabins, Richmond

The Badgers Retreat log cabins are located in the East Riding of Yorkshire, nestled between the North Yorks Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. The nearest attraction is the traditional town of Richmond, just three miles away from the park, where there is a castle and abbey to visit, as well as numerous places for refreshment of all kinds.

Set in 26 acres of beautifully maintained parkland, Badger’s Retreat has three different log cabins on offer, very aptly named Badger, Deer and Squirrel. All of the cabins are centrally-heated throughout, double glazed and fully kitted out with Freeview TVs, plenty of kitchen equipment, duvets and bed linen.

Badgers log cabin

This is a newly-built lodge featuring a light and airy open-plan living space with kitchen, dining area and cosy lounge. There are two bedrooms: a double and a twin room plus a bathroom with bath and shower. The lodge has a large decked verandah, complete with patio furniture, which overlooks the surrounding park.

Deer log cabin

The exterior woodwork of this cabin has been painted in cream, making it stand out from the crowd. There are two spacious bedrooms, one double and one twin-bedded as well as a full bathroom. The spacious open-plan living area has distinct dining and kitchen areas, with the sitting area opening onto a lovely decked outdoor space with seating.

Squirrel log cabin

This lodge is slightly larger than the other two and has a very modern feel to its interior. The open living space is cleverly laid out into three separate areas: fully-fitted kitchen, dining suite and lounge. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is a second twin room. Outside, the decked leisure space enjoys views over the surrounding park and beyond to the Yorkshire scenery.

For all three cabins, gas and electricity are included in the rental. Baby equipment is available for an additional £14 per stay

Whilst all three properties are strictly No Smoking, Squirrel does allow up to two dogs at £20 per week each.

Badger’s Retreat is ideally situated to spend time exploring the Yorkshire Moors and Dales, home to the famous Bronte family. The terrain is ideally suited to exploration either on foot, horseback or mountain bike. There are sights and scenery not to be missed including waterfalls and unique geological spectacles such as Brimham Rocks or the exceptionally high cliffs of Malham Cove.

For those keener on more leisurely pursuits, there is the beautiful Roman town of Harrogate not too far away, which still maintains its original Turkish Baths, along with numerous other attractions such as prize-winning gardens and Betty’s Tea Rooms, which have been in business since Victorian times.
