Description

Blackwood Forest Lodges

Blackwood Forest Lodges offer a genuinely special log cabin holiday experience in the heart of the New Forest, Hampshire. Nestled within 270 hectares of ancient beech woodland, these spacious luxury timber lodges combine the warmth and character of a traditional forest retreat with thoroughly modern comforts. Whether you are looking for a romantic escape for two, a family adventure or a group celebration, Blackwood delivers a standard of accommodation that is hard to match anywhere in southern England.

The setting alone is worth the journey. Towering beech trees surround every lodge, filtering the light through the canopy and creating an atmosphere of genuine peace and seclusion that feels a world away from everyday life. Yet despite the sense of remoteness, London is only an hour away by train and the wider Hampshire countryside is on the doorstep.

Activities and Facilities at Blackwood Forest Lodges

The park offers an outstanding range of activities for guests of all ages and abilities. Forest walks and nature trails wind through the beech woodland directly from the lodge doors, while dedicated cycle trails and mountain bike hire make it easy to explore the wider forest on two wheels. Ranger led walks bring the woodland to life for families, and archery sessions are available for those looking for something a little different. A restaurant, bar and cafe on site means you never have to venture far for a good meal or a relaxing drink after a day outdoors.

Please note that some activities including mountain bike hire and archery carry an additional charge. Not all facilities are available on every date so it is worth checking availability when you book.

Lodge Accommodation

Every lodge at Blackwood is spacious, well appointed and designed to make the most of the forest setting. The interiors are comfortable and well equipped throughout, with flat screen televisions, microwaves and dishwashers as standard. Bed linen, duvets, towels and complimentary toiletries are all included in the rental price, so you can arrive and settle in without having to think about packing the basics.

The standout feature of most lodges is the private decking area, complete with outdoor furniture and a hot tub, perfect for long summer evenings in the trees or a warming soak after a winter walk through the forest. Please note that Copper Beech Lodges do not include a hot tub.

Travel cots and highchairs are available for families with young children, charged at £5 per night. Pets are warmly welcome at Blackwood, with a charge of £10 per night for up to four pets in selected accommodation. All lodges are non-smoking throughout.

The Surrounding Area

Guests at Blackwood Forest Lodges are spoilt for choice when it comes to days out. The New Forest National Park offers some of the finest cycling and walking in southern England, with hundreds of miles of traffic free trails and the famous free roaming ponies and deer that make the forest unlike anywhere else in Britain.

Further afield, Beaulieu Motor Museum is one of the finest car collections in the world and a brilliant family day out. Highclere Castle, famous as the filming location for Downton Abbey, is within easy reach and genuinely impressive in person. Historic Portsmouth, with its naval dockyards, the Mary Rose Museum and Spinnaker Tower, makes for a full day’s exploration, and the Georgian market town of Alresford is worth an afternoon with its beautiful high street and the famous Watercress Line steam railway.

Walkers will enjoy the Alresford Millennium Trail, a gentle route suitable for all abilities that winds through the town’s historic architecture and pretty countryside. For cyclists, the Danebury Off-Road Cycle Trail offers a more challenging circular route from an Iron Age hill fort through the rolling hills and villages of the Broughton Downs.

Blackwood Forest Lodges combine outstanding accommodation, a beautiful natural setting and easy access to some of the best attractions in Hampshire. It is one of the finest forest lodge destinations in southern England and a place that guests return to year after year.
