The Lakeshore lodge in Ireland is situated in a spectacular, secluded location, at the very edge of Lough Mask, on the peninsula known as Burkes Island. This lodge is an idyllic place for visitors to really immerse themselves in the surrounding nature.

The living area is spacious and welcoming, with lots of traditional features, such as a classic woodburner, that really add to the rustic ambience whilst also providing a lovely, comfortable place to relax and enjoy the truly stunning location.

The dining area looks out over the lough, allowing visitors to really make the most of the beautiful view as they enjoy a leisurely evening meal or drink, watching the sun go down.

The lodge also has a patio area, with a private slipway that leads into the water, making a wonderful swimming spot or a place to launch a boat. A boat, engine and lifejackets can be hired from the owner.

All on the ground floor, the lodge consists of four bedrooms. There is one double with doors that lead onto the patio, with fantastic views over the lough. The main bedroom also has an en-suite shower, basin and WC. There is a further double room and two singles. The main bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and WC.

There is a compact but well-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining area with stunning lough views. The sitting area is large and comfortable and boasts a traditional woodburner, perfect for relaxing, cosy evenings.

General amenities include: oil central heating with woodburner, an electric oven, gas hob, a microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a TV with Sky and a DVD player, so there is plenty of entertainment available, even when the weather is less than ideal for exploring outside.

All power, bed linen, towels and the starter pack of fuel for the woodburner is included in the rent, and a cot and highchair are available on request.

There is a small side lawn and a large, lough-side patio, complete with furniture, BBQ and private slipway.

A boat, engine and life jackets can be hired from the owner at €150 per week, and training can be arranged, in advance, with the owner.

There is off road parking in the private driveway with space for four cars. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking.

The nearest shops and pub are six miles away.

Please note: the lodge does not have drinking water; there is a private water supply from the lough itself. A large starter bottle of drinking water is provided on arrival. Due to the proximity of the lough, children must be supervised at all times and are advised to wear lifejackets.

Dating back to the 1330s, Ballinrobe is one of the oldest towns in South Mayo. It is a lively, historic market town on the River Robe in County Mayo, and offers plenty of things to see and do, with lots of interesting architecture and history to discover.

It is a great base from which to discover the beautiful surrounding area, and is very close to Lough Mask, Lough Carra and Lough Corrib. With 60,000 acres of lough fishing, Ballinrobe is extremely popular with anglers, and there is also a championship, 18-hole golf course and spring and summer horse racing meetings.

Slightly further afield, the spectacular Mayo coastline is just half an hour away, as well as Connemara National Park, where visitors of all abilities can follow walking trails and take in the breathtaking views.
