Inside, the living areas are comfortable, spacious and beautifully designed, with woodburning stoves that create a wonderfully cosy atmosphere on cooler evenings and rainy Lake District afternoons. Bed linen, duvets, towels, gas and electricity are all included in the rental price.
Pets are welcome at Meadows End Lodges Lake District in Romney Lodge only, at a charge of £50 per week or short break for up to two animals. All accommodation is non-smoking throughout. Cartmel, the Lake District and the Surrounding Area
The location of Meadows End Lodges Lake District is exceptional. Despite the beautifully secluded setting, the vibrant village of Cartmel is just a fifteen minute walk away and is one of the most characterful villages in the whole of Cumbria. Famous throughout the north of England for its race meetings, its legendary sticky toffee pudding and its popular monthly food markets, Cartmel also has a magnificent 12th century priory and a growing reputation as a foodie destination that attracts visitors from across the country. L’Enclume, one of the finest restaurants in Britain, is based here and has held multiple Michelin stars for many years.
Lake Windermere and Coniston are both within easy reach for scenic cruises, watersports and lakeside walking, and the surrounding fells offer some of the finest hiking in England. The views from Helm Crag, reached via a rewarding nine mile route, are among the most spectacular in the Lake District and well worth the effort on a clear day. For history enthusiasts, Carlisle Castle, founded in 1092 and once a prison for Mary Queen of Scots, is a fascinating visit, as is Wordsworth House in Cockermouth — the childhood home of the poet who captured the Lake District’s beauty in verse like no one before or since. Visitors can meet costumed servants, help with daily tasks and cook historic recipes in the working Georgian kitchen for a genuinely immersive experience.
Morecambe Bay, a short drive south from the lodge park, offers a wonderful traditional seaside experience with spectacular views across the bay to the Lakeland fells and plenty of activities and entertainment for families. The sands at low tide are extraordinary in scale and the famous sunsets over the bay are among the most photographed in the north of England.
